О советских довоенных плавающих танках Т-37А, Т-38, Т-40 написано довольно мало. Если не считать нескольких довольно слабых публикаций, никакой достоверной. Советские плавающие танки предназначались, прежде всего, для ведения разведки, и специальных подразделений для форсирования преград в Красной Армии не существовало. Лишь в ходе боевых действий были сделаны попытки создать из Т-37А и Т-38 батальоны для переправы через реки, но особого успеха эта затея не имела. В данной работе автор попытался на основе архивных документов рассказать об истории создании, серийном производстве, модификациях и опытных образцах советских танков амфибий. Кроме того, впервые в отечественной и иностранной литературе дается подробная информация об организации и штатной структуре подразделений плавающих танков и их боевом применении.
