Вторая мировая война, подготовленная международной империалистической реакцией и развязанная на Востоке милитаристской Японией, а на Западе — гитлеровской Германией, закончилась полным военным и политическим поражением ее организаторов и вдохновителей. Вооруженные силы Советского Союза, руководимые гениальным полководцем И. В. Сталиным, разгромили агрессоров и освободили народы Европы и Азии от фашистского ига.
В результате второй мировой войны изменилась политическая карта мира, создалась новая расстановка экономических и политических сил на мировой арене. Образовались два лагеря — лагерь мира, демократии и социализма во главе с великим Советским Союзом и лагерь агрессивный, антидемократический, возглавляемый США. Надежды американо-англо-французских империалистов на ослабление и обескровливание Советского Союза при помощи фашистских государств не оправдались. Вторая мировая война окончилась непредвиденными для империалистов результатами.
