Французский тяжелый бомбардировщик Bréguet Bre.XI Corsaire. В 1915 году немецкие истребители и хорошо налаженная ПВО делают полеты французских бомбардировщиков крайне небезопасными. Французское командование в экстренном порядке принимает решение начать производство новых, более совершенных бомбардировщиков. Вырабатывается две основные линии развития - разработка легких скоростных и тяжелых, но хорошо защищенных самолетов. Согласно второй концепции в конце 1915 года на заводе Bréguet – «Société des Ateliers d'Aviation Louis Bréguet» строят тяжелый бомбардировщик Bréguet XI Corsaire. Это был настоящий гигант с размахом крыльев почти в 30 метров и взлетным весом около 5 тонн. Самолет оснащался тремя двигателями Renault 8 Gd мощностью 220 л.с. и имел мощное оборонительное вооружение - одну 37-мм пушку и три 7.7-мм пулемета. Бомбовая нагрузка Bréguet XI составляла 300 килограмм легких бомб. Первый полет бомбардировщика состоялся в феврале 1916 года. Несмотря на удовлетворительные результаты испытаний французское командование отказалась от закупки самолета, аргументировав отказ, тем что Bréguet XI слишком велик для фронтовой авиации
