Настоящий сборник обобщает опыт преподавания новой истории в IX классах ряда школ Ленинграда в 1959/60 учебном году.
Приступая к рассмотрению сборника, мы заранее оговариваемся, что в первую очередь остановимся на поднятых в нем методологических вопросах. Что же касается методической стороны представленного опыта, то мы попытаемся проанализировать его несколько позже, желая дать общую картину, свойственную работе передовых учителей.
Материал излагается учащимся в соответствии с действующей программой. Однако авторский коллектив учел критические замечания и пожелания, высказанные в связи с введением курса новейшей истории зарубежных стран. Не осталось без внимания и то новое, что нашло место в программе для средней общеобразовательной трудовой политехнической школы с производственным обучением.
