At the end MATLAB programming is given on various DSP topics. The aim is to impart adequate knowledge to the undergraduate level students in DSP area. This book focuses on theoretical concepts and problem solving.
In the recent years, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) has continued to have a major and increasing impact in many key areas of technology, including telecommunications, digital television, multimedia communications, mobile and wireless communications, biomedicine, digital audio and instrumentation. In its technological evolution it is taking new shape from time to time. DSP is now introduced in many universities as core subject and for some courses, it is taught as elective subject. DSP is playing vital role in many new and emerging digital products and applications in the information society.
The need and expectation for electronic communication and computer engineers to be competent in DSP have grown even stronger since two decades. Now DSP is made compulsory as core subject in most electronic, communications, computer, information technology, biomedical curriculae.
This book provides a comprehensive treatment of DSP techniques commencing from an elementary level of sampling process. At the end MATLAB programming is given on various DSP topics. MATLAB is now widely used as a generic tool in industry and academia and requires less programming skills than C. It provides good graphics and display facilities and gives a good environment for developing DSP. MATLAB is a useful tool for students to become familiar with, and to develop confidence in real subject learning. MATLAB is only a simulation tool, it comes to reality by using DSP processors. In the manufacturing of the processors Texas Instruments in USA is leading. Intel also develops processors. Processors architecture also not a fixed one, it varies based on the development taking place. Always high-speed and small size processors are preferred as miniaturization is one of the important requirements. Cost also is one of the criteria to have cheaper products to come into market.
Main target of the book is to impart adequate knowledge to the undergraduate level students in DSP area. For the students this book projects on theoretical concepts and problem solving. Many important problems which often come in the examinations have been solved. Some problems have been given at the end of the chapters as exercise to the students. Multiple choice questions were given at the end of the each chapter which helps the students those who opt to appear for competitive examinations.
