Мёд пчелиный — продукт питания, вырабатываемый пчелами из нектара медоносных цветов: по вкусовым и питательным свойствам — ценный диетический продукт. Состоит из моносахаров — глюкозы и фруктозы, которые, попав в желудок, переходят в кровь без переработки. Мёд содержит органические и минеральные катализаторы (ферменты, витамины, минеральные соли), нормализующие обмен веществ, улучшающие качество крови, благоприятно действующие на нервную система человека. Аромат мёда зависит от растения, с которого собран нектар. Своеобразный аромат имеет липовый, гречишный, вересковый, подсолнечниковый, эвкалиптовый мёд. В домашних условиях с добавлением мёда готовят печенье, пряники, коврижки конфеты и прохладительные напитки. Он заменяет сахар в киселях, компотах, муссах, варенье, напитках (медовый квас, кумыс с мёдом, сбитень).
На меду готовят булочки, пышки и хлебцы. Его используют при выпечке тортов и фруктовых пирогов. В качестве обязательного компонента мёда входит в состав халвы, нуги, пастилы, мармелада. Можно приготовить супы молочные с мёдом, оладьи на меду, яичницу с мёдом, медовое мороженое.
