Английский легкий бомбардировщик Hawker Hind С началом расширения ВВС Великобритании в 1934 году Министерство авиации разработало техническое задание на легкий бомбардировщик, который мог бы служить заменой бомбардировщику Hawker Hart до начала эксплуатации самолетов нового поколения, таких как Bristol Blenheim и Fairey Battle. Компания Хоукер предложила модель, сконструированную на основе самолета Харт, отличающуюся установкой более мощного двигателя Kestrel V, хвостового колеса вместо костыля и некоторыми изменениями, включавшими в себя модификацию задней кабины (для улучшения условий, увеличения области обстрела и обеспечения позиции лежа при бомбометании). Английский тяжелый истребитель Hawker Demon Новый легкий дневной бомбардировщик Hawker Hart, недавно появившийся у англичан, обладал многими потенциальными возможностями. Увидев, как легко этот бомбардировщик обходит истребители, военные решили, что на его базе получится неплохой тяжелый истребитель. Работы над его проектом начались в 1930-м. В истребитель, названный поначалу «Харт Файтер», переделали первую серийную машину. С нее убрали бомбовое вооружение, ликвидировали лежачее место летнаба. Зато поставили более высотный мотор «Кестрел» IIS и еще один пулемет спереди. Кольцо задней турели разместили не горизонтально, а под небольшим углом. Перед турелью поставили маленький ветровой козырек, защищавший от набегающего воздушного потока наблюдателя, и увеличили сектора обстрела. Подобным же образом доработали еще один серийный самолет, и оба предъявили на испытания. Летные данные истребителя оказались примерно такими же, как у бомбардировщика, значительный прирост был только в скороподъемности и практическом потолке. Министерство авиации заказало небольшую серию таких машин, поступивших в 23-ю эскадрилью в Кенли в марте 1931-го. В процессе эксплуатации постоянно поступали жалобы на сильное задувание кабины стрелка, мешавшее прицеливаться. ...
