I’ve always enjoyed sharing what I learn, so I started blogging early in my career, then began speaking at local user groups and conferences, and eventually started hosting my own events. The topics of my presentations have varied, but over the last four years most have involved a combination of tools that include the Power Platform and AI. After one such presentation, an opportunity to write a book about building Microsoft 365 solutions presented itself, and I jumped at the opportunity… well, maybe I hesitated a little.
In Chapter 1, I describe a real-world scenario where the Power Platform solved an immediate need very quickly, compared to how long it might have taken to build a comparable solution with code. I also walk you through setting up a developer tenant that will provide you with most of the tools that you’ll need to build the examples throughout this book.
Chapter 2 provides an overview of the tools that make up the Power Platform, the common services that connect these tools, and complementary AI services that we can use to build solutions. Chapters 3 through 9 are each dedicated to a specific part of the Power Platform. I’ll guide you through the tools, take you through the user interface, describe important features, and walk you step by step through building a solution. The solutions in each chapter are based in part on real-world solutions.
Chapters 10 through 12 introduce you to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and show you how simple it is to build AI-based solutions. Finally, I end the book by introducing Microsoft Power Pages, which was added to the Power Platform in May 2022.
