NoSQL databases are non-relational, open-source, distributed, schema-less, and cluster friendly databases. They are hugely popular today owing to their ability to scale out or scale horizontally and the adeptness at dealing with a rich variety of dаta: structured, semi-structured and unstructured data. They are malleable and flexible enough to accommodate sparse datasets, besides maintaining cost efficiency and availability.
The last few years have been witness to a burgeoning growth of data. Increasingly being used in big data and real-time web applications are NoSQL databases. NoSQL are the “Not only SQL” databases, implying that they support SQL-like query languages, or sit alongside SQL databases in polyglot persistent architectures.
