Your enterprise is also able to utilize two different APIs – that is, Restful APIs and WebSocket APIs. With Restful APIs, your enterprise can rely on API proxy functionality and management features, like usage plans and APIs keys. Your enterprise also is able to rely on WebSocket APIs as a stateful front end for an AWS service (such as Lambda or DynamoDB) or for an HTTP endpoint. The WebSocket API invokes your enterprise back end based on the content of the messages received from a client’s app, much different than Restful API, which receives and responds to inquiries. WebSocket API helps two-way communication that occurs between client apps and your enterprise back end. This means the back end can forward callback messages to any connected client your enterprise may be working with.
Furthermore, your enterprise could also utilize cloud APIs, such as Python SDK (Software Development Kit), to develop, provision, and manage its cloud environment. After all, AWS cloud APIs using Python SDK are just as easy to understand, develop, deploy, and manage, with little knowledge of coding in Python. Using a Boto3 command line, BallotOnline was able to integrate the Python application, library, or script with its AWS CloudFormation and EC2 environment. “Boto3 has two distinct levels of APIs. Client (or ‘low-level’) APIs that provide one-to-one mappings to the underlying HTTP API operations” [27]. Of course, understanding this is helpful in determining if the partnership with AWS is worth it or not. After all, with the support rendered by AWS, your enterprise will be ready to begin its migration from the old legacy on-premises system to full cloud infrastructure. However, to effectively achieve this, it is important to understand the AWS migration and configuration of web services.
