Advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have redefined research and development in many areas, particularly in the direction of engineering research, application of Machine Learning, and the use of Deep Learning in many aspects of engineering research. This book looks at the impact of AI and how it has transformed transportation in the form of Smart Traffic Management Systems in a world of unmanned systems and autonomous machines. The book explores the problems faced in air, sea and land transport and traffic. It looks into Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), autonomous and remotely-operated ships, intelligent port management systems, and modern urban railway systems. Redefining Traffic is a reference book for researchers, engineers, and technical personnel specializing in intelligent traffic, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and the Internet of Things (IoT). It can also be used as a study guide for advanced undergraduates interested in AI, vehicle engineering, automation, and computing.
Intelligent perception, precision calculation and intelligent feedback are the core components of Artificial Intelligence, which in turn show the characteristics of Artificial Intelligence in the dimensions of perception, thinking and action. To achieve Artificial Intelligence, it is necessary to first obtain large and rich structured data that objectively describe specific scenarios, enabling the computer to complete the task of information collection; secondly, it is necessary to calculate accurately, analyze the data resources obtained and refer to the thinking process of the human brain, enabling the computer to learn autonomously, make scientific judgments and make rational decisions. In this process, the human–computer interaction interface can represent the development of Artificial Intelligence, which can express the results of the previous decision-making step through media information and physical movements and can also communicate information to the user through external devices, thus facilitating the interaction of information between the user and the device and between the devices.
In the process of Artificial Intelligence, knowledge engineering, expert systems, human brain bionic technology and Machine Learning algorithms are used to simulate human control behavior through intelligent control technology. So far, Baidu, International Business Machines and Google have made extensive practical applications of computer Deep Learning technology developed on the basis of artificial neural networks, which can improve computer recognition of images and speech, optimize the performance of computer graphics processors and gradually form perfect large-scale artificial neural network systems. At the same time, the growing Internet business means that Deep Learning has a large number of data samples, and the application of this technology for data mining and analysis can effectively improve the accuracy of image recognition technology.
